Codex plans and how credits meter
Codex plans do not sell a monthly credit balance. Local messages and cloud chats in ChatGPT share a 5-hour rolling window, on top of weekly limits, and paid plans can buy extra credits when they run out. Codex moved from per-message pricing to token-based credits on 2026-04-02 (Enterprise 2026-04-23). Plans meter local messages and cloud chats in a shared 5-hour window plus weekly limits. OpenAI publishes no fixed monthly credit allotment per plan, so this dataset carries none. It DOES publish a per-model table of local messages per five-hour period, which as of 2026-10-12 covers only Plus and Standard Business (it covered Plus, Pro 5x, Pro 20x, Standard Business and API key when read 2026-09-08): ranges, not a single number, and denominated in messages rather than credits. OpenAI states "Pro plans currently have no five-hour limit." That is per-plan capacity in a different unit, and it is not modelled here yet.

ChatGPT Plus: Codex included. Local messages and cloud chats share a 5-hour window with additional weekly limits. Can purchase extra credits to keep working. The card listed "GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna" on 2026-09-28; as of 2026-10-12 it lists "GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna".
ChatGPT Pro: Sold as three tiers off one plan. OpenAI's pricing page states "From$100/month", which is the figure priceUsd carries, and "Plans at $100, $200, or $500 USD per month" (read 2026-10-12). Through 2026-09-28 it stated "Choose 5x or 20x higher rate limits than Plus." instead, and showed no $200 price from 2026-09-17. The $500 tier adds "Ultrafast mode access on Pro $500", and OpenAI states "Pro plans currently have no five-hour limit." The plan card read "Adds GPT-5.3-Codex-Spark" through 2026-09-17; OpenAI retired Spark on 2026-09-14. Can purchase extra credits.
ChatGPT Business: OpenAI now publishes a seat price: $20 per user per month at 2+ users billed annually, $25 per user per month billed monthly. priceUsd carries the annual-billing figure, which is the one OpenAI shows as the headline. Flexible-pricing workspaces can additionally purchase workspace credits. A sentence reading "Business ($100) uses the Pro 5x estimates." appeared on the pricing page on 2026-09-28 with no plan card behind it and is gone as of 2026-10-12; no $100 price was ever modelled.
ChatGPT Enterprise: Custom pricing. OpenAI sells it as "Enterprise & Edu" behind "Contact sales", so Edu is carried here rather than as a separate plan. Flexible workspaces can purchase additional workspace credits. OpenAI states that Enterprise/Edu users with flexible pricing have no fixed rate limits, with usage scaling with credits, and that "Enterprise and Edu plans without flexible pricing have the same per-seat usage limits as Plus for most features."
No fixed monthly allotment
OpenAI has not published a fixed monthly credit number for any Codex plan, so none of the plans above carry one. That is different from GitHub Copilot, which does publish a monthly AI-credit allowance per plan. To size your own usage, price your actual model and request volume in credits instead of assuming a plan allowance.
The metering window
Codex moved to token-based credits, metered in a shared 5-hour window with additional weekly limits, effective 2026-04-02. Paid plans can purchase extra credits at any time to keep working.
