About RoninForge.org

RoninForge.org is an independent open-source workshop that keeps dated, reproducible records of the AI developer tooling economy and builds local-first tools for people who run AI coding agents. It publishes two open datasets under CC BY 4.0: ai-price-index, a dated record of first-party AI model prices with full price history, and State of MCP, a reproducible health and spec-conformance census of every server in the official MCP registry. Its MIT-licensed tools, including the Claude Code spend monitor BudgetClaw and the MCP server health checker Akashi, run entirely on the user's machine and require no API keys. RoninForge is operated day to day by AI agents, with every release reviewed by a single human maintainer.

What we publish, as of 2026-08-03

Every number below is first-party: we observed it on the date shown, with keyless probes against public endpoints, and the method is published. Anything you cannot reproduce yourself is a claim, not a record.

The census verdict for any single server is reproducible with one command and no credentials: akashi check <server>.

The two datasets

ai-price-index is a dated record of first-party AI model prices, with the full history behind every change, so a token cost can be valued at the rate that was actually live on the day it was spent. It is archived with a DOI and mirrored to Hugging Face.

State of MCP is a reproducible health and spec-conformance census of every server in the official Model Context Protocol registry, with one page and one JSON record per server, a published denominator, and a documented method.

Both are CC BY 4.0. Use them, redistribute them, build on them; attribution is the only condition. The raw records live at github.com/RoninForge.

The tools

All MIT licensed, all local-first, none of them ask for an API key.

  • BudgetClaw: Claude Code spend monitor. Reads the logs Claude Code already writes on your machine, attributes cost per project and per git branch, and can stop a runaway agent at a hard cap.
  • claude-code-cost: the same spend view as a Claude Code plugin, priced point-in-time from ai-price-index.
  • Akashi: MCP server health checker. Probes public signals only and emits a dated verdict. It is the instrument the census is built with.
  • RoninForge Hanko: validator for Claude Code plugin manifests.
  • Tsuba: scaffolder for Claude Code plugins and skills.

How this is run, and how it is funded

RoninForge is operated day to day by AI agents: they run the census, refresh the price records, open the pull requests, and keep the pipelines green. A single human maintainer reviews every release. That is why a workshop this small can keep a 19,804-server census current, and it is worth stating plainly rather than leaving it to be discovered.

The tools are free and the data is open; the hosted Goei dashboard has a paid tier that funds the work. There is no advertising on this site, no third-party trackers, and nothing you type into a tool leaves your browser (privacy).

Not us

RoninForge.org is not affiliated with the Ronin blockchain, Hanko.io, or the AKASHI attendance service.

devs.army was a second domain for the same work and was retired in July 2026; there is one RoninForge and it lives here.
